Tracey Hickman has worked in the energy industry for more than 25 years, and joined the Genesis Executive Team in 2012. In October 2023 she became Chief Wholesale Officer, responsible for leading the company’s diverse generation assets and LPG operations, overseeing the wholesale trading and fuels portfolio, and steering our programme to develop and access new renewable generation.
Tracey stepped in as Interim Chief Executive for six months until Malcolm Johns joined the company in 2023. Prior to this she was our Chief Customer Officer leading Genesis’ Customer teams and Retail operations. Tracey’s earlier roles on the Executive included Generation, Trading and Fuels.
With a Master’s degree focusing on natural resource management, Tracey began her career with the Electricity Corporation of New Zealand, managing large scale environmental reconsenting projects and iwi/stakeholder relations. She became Genesis’ Environmental Manager before moving into broader general management roles.
