James leads the team at Vector responsible for electricity market-related strategy and regulation, with particular responsibility for the relationships with the New Zealand Electricity Authority and the Australian Energy Market Commission. He is co-Chair of the ENA’s Future Networks Forum and helped to establish the FlexForum in 2022. Prior to joining Vector, he directed corporate strategy development and led a number of strategic projects for the Electricity Authority itself, after undertaking similar roles over a decade with Trustpower. James holds a PhD in electricity market modelling, and has more than 20 years’ experience working in energy sector strategy, analytics, policy and regulatory roles in Australasia and in Europe.
